Fritts Retires! (Who Does THIS Open the Door for?) Ep. 173

In today’s video, we talk about David Fritts retirement from professional bass fishing. Fritts has been one of my favorite anglers of all time and is easily one of the nicest people you will ever meet. I’m not going to lie, I thought we had one more year with Fritts, so this comes at a bit of a surprise to me. But with Fritts headed out, who does that bring in? We break that answer down in the video today. Please make sure you leave a comment and tell me WHO you think would be a good replacement!

  1. I met David Fritts three times, he was the same kind, soft spoken, and friendly human. Great guy!
Concerning KVD, I want to say he's coming back, but watching the emotion he had on his farewell season, I just don't know.

  2. Don't think KVD will come back to elites. He certainly doesn't need the money, and he will always be relevant. According to youtube rumors, FFS was the big reason he retired. And I haven't heard him deny it either. Fitts is super nice. I interviewed him once when I was writing outdoor articles. He gave me all the time I wanted.

  3. You know what I think, Chaz Michael Michaels is figure skating.

Just like KVD is Bass fishing lol the odds are good that we see him again. He is to competitive.

  4. Rick Clunn retires after 2024. KVD would be great to see back in the fold, but as far as BPT anglers go, you still have Justin Lucas, Chris Lane, Ott Defoe, Edwin Evers and Skeet Reese with Legend exemptions, who aren’t fishing BASS atm.

Oh yea, Boyd Duckett won a classic too, he sure is a legend LOL.

  5. One thing is for sure Kevin does not need the money. I also know it's not all about that. I think he will be back honestly. I think your on to something Andrew.

  6. KVD is definitely a compelling thought but I wonder if someone else who can take a Legends spot (is it any Classic or AOY champ?) will fly under the radar and take the spot. Someone like Tak, Chris Lane, Cliff Pace, Mark Davis

  7. Awesome video!!! Great points on both men!! Hard for me to think KVD will come back but you never know what's on his mind. Would be nice to see him back in BASS!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!

  8. Like you, when I saw the post about Rick Clunn's 50th season, I think it will be his last. You make a strong case for KVD's return. I think there's a puncher's chance. Keep up the good work Andrew!

  9. Fritts was a master with a crank. Would love to see KVD come back but he said on Mercer that he wouldn’t use the legend exemption. But if he decided to come back, he would work his way back through the opens. But things change. Love your channel dude!!

  10. You’re always crazy 😂 That’s what makes your channel great. However, I don’t think you’re wrong. I’ve said it since he announced his plan to retire. He’ll finish in BASS at some point. I think MLF left a bad taste in his mouth and maybe I’m crazy. Just my honest opinion.

  11. I could be off on the date, but I remember attending a bassmaster class taught by David Fritts back in spring of 94 up in Raleigh NC teaching us about cranking Poe's 300s and 400s. Got a box of them!

  12. The same month David won the classic in August of 93 was the time I signed up and became a lifetime member/subscriber to Bassmaster magazine. Just hit 30 years. Great investment!

  13. Randy B put out a video falsely accusing FFS as the reason Fritts and others are retiring. I pushed back by stating FFS did not push these OGs out of the sport. They aged and left gracefully. Thank you Kevin VD, Larry N, David F, Timmy H, Jay Y and others for what you've done for the sport. Enjoy your retirement.

  14. I know this is a long shot but what if Roland Martin comes back competes with his son but thinking realistic possibilities Skeet Reese, Randy Howel but I’d wish they would let Bobby Lane in

  15. It makes sense for KVD to come back home before total retirement. Obviously financially KVD could hang it up and be done. I feel like everyone who loves BASS would love to see him one more time!
