Join my wife and I for a mid‑summer fishing adventure on the Fox River in Southeastern Wisconsin, where pike and smallmouth absolutely smash swimbaits all day long. From spillway sight‑fishing to working current seams and structure, this trip delivers nonstop action and real‑world river fishing tips for Midwest anglers.
We kick things off throwing swimbaits along classic Fox River structure and quickly get into fish. I hook into a northern pike sight‑fishing near a spillway, watching it crush a swimbait right in front of me. Earlier in the day, a pike explodes on an orange‑and‑black Pacemaker musky lure, proving big baits can trigger big strikes even in summer river conditions.
Throughout the trip, we land multiple smallmouth bass on Keitech swimbaits, working them through current breaks, eddies, and deeper pockets.
