Folsom Lake Bass Fishing Report – January 24th and 25th, 2026

Day 1 – January 24th

Day one started out super foggy. Heavy fog covered the lake and honestly made it tough to move around unless I was relying solely on my mapping cards. Visibility was low early, but the fog burned off fairly quick and turned into a full-on bluebird day.

As you’d expect, once those skies cleared, the bite got really tough. High pressure, calm conditions — not exactly what we want this time of year. I spent most of the day grinding with limited bites.

Later in the afternoon, things finally changed when the wind picked up. That little bit of wind was enough to get some activity going, and I was able to get on a small umbrella rig bite and pick up a few more on a Ned rig.

Still, it was a grindy day overall. I ended Day 1 with just four fish, but stayed patient knowing conditions could flip.

Day 2 – January 25th

Day two was a completely different story.

We had overcast skies, very cold temperatures, and a light north wind — way better conditions. The morning started slow, but I did manage a bite early on an underspin.

Things really turned around when I was able to find an active school of spotted bass staged on bait. Once I found them, it got fun fast. These fish were clearly feeding, and they wanted one thing.

The bait of choice was a 4.5-inch minnow on a stroll head, and when it was in front of them, they ate it. Most of the action came once I committed to staying around that bait and working it patiently.

Lake Level: Elevation 425 feet

Water Temp: 52–54 degrees

Air Temp: 34–66 degrees

Weather: Foggy early, clear skies, overcast and cloudy

Ramps: Open at Granite Bay and Brown’s Ravine

Final Tip

This time of year, it really comes down to one thing:

Find the baitfish, and you’ll find the bass.
