FISHING TOWNS: Nashville is a different kind of fishing town
You probably don’t think of Nashville as a fishing town, do you? No sir/ma’am, Nashville is most likely where you to go listen to country music, dance in a honky-tonk and have a good time with your friends. You don’t go there to catch a bass … right?
Well, not so fast, boys and girls.
When you dig a little deeper – beyond the honky-tonk lights of Broadway Street, past the hot chicken, past the line dancers – you slowly start to realize that Nashville and surrounding towns have a strong fishing culture. With Old Hickory Lake located a short drive from Broadway, and the Cumberland River rolling right through downtown, it makes total sense that The Champions by World Bass Enterprises – the richest bass tournament in history – is happening in Nashville and on Old Hickory.
Listen up as Gerald Swindle, Barrett Hobbs of the Nashville Palace, TWRA Fisheries Chief Jason Henegar and Old Hickory local pro Drew Boggs tell you why Nashville is a lot fishier than you might think. Welcome to Fishing Towns: Nashville.
