Fishing Tournament Angler Killed Today on Lake Hartwell
One person dead in fishing tournament incident on Lake Hartwell. Boat sinks in Lake Hartwell: 3 people rescued, 1 dead, officials say. Four people participating in a fishing tournament in South Carolina were rescued when their boat sank and one died after being rushed to the hospital, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. The Striped Bass Challenge striper fishing tournament was being held on Lake Hartwell today. The Striped Bass Challenge striper tournament has striped bass fishing tournaments on lakes throughout the southeast. Anderson County Emergency Management, dive teams, EMS, fire and deputies were called Saturday morning to Sadlers Creek State Park after a boat sank, authorities said. Upon arrival, EMS urgently began doing CPR on a woman near the shore. All four people were taken to the hospital to be treated for hypothermia. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office later confirmed the woman died. The coroner has not released the woman’s identity at this time. Authorities said the victims include two men, a woman, and a 7-year-old boy. Officials said four people were out on the lake for a private striped bass fishing tournament.
