Fishing the Local Docks for a Limit of Blackfish – the Most Critical Skill Required Explained!
Blackfish aka tautog are not only great fighting (and tasting) fish, but they are also one of the fish that can be caught close to shore and, in fact, often make their permanent homes near docks and pilings.
On this mid-October day, with the wind blowing 20 plus miles an hour and my charter cancelled, I ventured out into Peconic Bay for tog.
As this video shows, you need a lot of patience when fishing shallow as there are way, WAY more small fish than keeper size tog living in these waters. If you have the patience though, you can be rewarded as I was on this day.
