In this video we finally fish our first live in person bass fishing tournament. It was a kayak bass tournament and boy did we have a day. Probably one of the hardest days on the water. Rough start and rough finish, but hey thats fishing.
I only had a few goals going into this tournament.
1. Fish the tournament
2. Catch a fish
3. Catch more than one fish
4. Catch a limit
How many of these goals did I complete? Watch the video and find out!

Hey man, good for you getting out there to fish a tournament! One thing i recently learned was that it’s really easy to over-line a baitcaster reel. Maybe if you pull 30-50 feet of line off, and adjust those brakes a bit too, you’ll have less backlashes costing you time & stress!
You have the brakes on your reels set way too loose.
I had a big rude comment typed out that I deleted because I realized idk your story and you might be a new angler. Anywho tighten your brakes on your reel so you quit backlashing every cast. 2nd don't pull up so hard on snags and put all that pressure on your rod🤣🤣 3rd go fish some farm ponds so you can get the feel of a fish or a snag so you don't fight a snag for 5 minutes again lol
I'll be joining in on the trail this year as well.. if you ever wanna meet up and fish I'd be down!
what is that fish finder on your phone and how is it hooked up to a transducer?
It can only get better.
What’s the electronics you are using on your phone?
Definitely needs some more time on the water
Dude I feel ya! I’ve been out in 2 different spots 4 different times and nothing so I feel ya! But…..never give up!!!!!!!
I had days like that it's all good don't give up
Looking forward to more tourney vids my friend
the net was on you lol , you trying to lift a dead weight with a rod that made for small fish ( by that i meant like bass ) over all enjoyed the video. i would have tossed spinner bait and chatter bait . we all have those days its fishing . keep ur head up
Welcome to the trail, great video if you ever need a fishing buddy hit me or any of us up in the FB page or on YT. Falls lake was fishing weird for me but all my buddies were slamming em. so dont feel to bad.
Keep working brother!
I know how you feel. I had a similar experience my first time. Only got one fish that day, but the big 17" bass got off the board before i got a pic taken. LOL now but mad then. Keep the lines in the water it gets better……………..
It’s all a learning experience man. This year was my first season tournament fishing and after 7 events I’ll say every tournament was different. Screw ups and mistakes. And 1 tournament I got a top 10 bc everything went smoothly!
Tip:1
I’d watch a couple videos how to set your reels so you don’t backlash as much.
Tip 2: when you get snagged try pulling up to where your line is and stick the tip of the rod in the water and reel in the slack. Most times you can get lures unstuck.
Tip 3: keep at it. Each trip is a learning experience. I watch hundreds of kayak fishing videos. Look up Greg Blanchard. He gives a wealth of knowledge!
Good luck dude
What a day indeed dude! Dang! At least lessons learned and can make the next tournament better ✌🏻
At least you fished the tournament bro. Keep going. I’m looking to do my first in spring
Sucks about the rod, but don’t think there was much you could of done. The net probably had to much give to break off at the knot.
That was a rough one. Better luck next time. I feel your pain for the broken rod, because I have been there.
Rough one! But you looked great in the Phantom!
Hate that you broke your rod, man. That really stinks. And even worse that you forgot to check in. But we learn from the struggle and press on.
