Fishing late fall for tricky cold weather bass – December bass fishing!

Can YouTube help me become a better fisherman? In this episode I am fishing on a cold December morning. I start by throwing a plastic worm and have moderate success as I hook, and lose a fish. So I downsize to a curly tail minnow grub on a swimbait jig head, and then manage to catch two small bass from the same spot. Catching two fish from the same spot gives me hope that there might be a big bass down there somewhere. I am still fishing the Abu Garcia Black Max since I still don’t have my KastKing replacement.

  1. you didn't set the hook? You have to set the hook when fishing with plastics. Keep some slack in your line and watch your line. When you see it take off set the hook. A bigger fish can feel you and he will likely drop the bait. Also, try a tru turn hook and a screw in weight

  2. Interesting baits, but colors seemed dead on. They were striking, and I was thinking about how that shad, grub, swimbait…thing, would look falling down that deeper hole near the first log. 2 bass is 2 bass though!

  3. Hey man, I plan on doing a kayak bass fishing tournament next Saturday and I believe it’s suppose to be pretty chilly, any tips for this lake? If you’re familiar with rock land road boat ramp on old hickory I’m either putting in there or Avondale boat ramp in Gallatin!

  4. Hey man! Love the content just a question out of curiosity. Why don't you ever use a spinning rod? Seems like it's easier for me to throw small baits that way. Much respect and keep up the sick content

  5. Just found this channel and like your spin on videos…realistic…not just fish catches.  Subbed!  When you have a minute, check out my channel too and appreciate a sub or feedback.  Keep up the vids.

  6. tighten that drag up a little bit when you fish a texas rig or jig it'll help get that hook to penetrate the fishes mouth. especially since the fishes mouths are tougher in colder water. good video brother keep up the good work

  7. Because its winter never be afraid to throw those summer lures. Some baits you can throw year round such as the Rage craw. Just whatever you throw just slow it down, thats key.

  8. Really enjoyed this, good explanation of what you were doing all the way through. I kind of thought you might of had some smaller one's hitting the worm. I have some Culprit baits that look like that with the ribbon tail. Smart to go to something smaller.
