FIRST time BASS Fishing in LOS ANGELES California – LAKE BALBOA

Traveled down to Socal for a show and brought my travel rod. Ended up fishing at Lake Balboa for a couple hours. Shout out to the local that told me where to find the fish. Ended up getting one where he recommended! Decent lake with a lot of nice people!

Rod:

Moderate Fast

My thoughts on the rod: Perfect travel rod when flying on planes. Was able to bring it as a carry on/personal item. Did not have to check it in. Was a little tip heavy but the reel balanced it out. Enjoyed using it.

Reel:
Shimano Curado DC HG
7.2:1 ratio
Upgraded ceramic bearings

My thoughts on the reel: Can’t go wrong with any Shimano reel. The DC works well. The ceramic bearings are really noisy. Still not sure if it really helps with casting distance. I would probably recommend with just sticking with stock bearings and maybe just clean them for better performance.

My thoughts on the bait/tackle: Bought some cheap wide gap hooks after I landed. Didn’t want to bring hooks on the plane. Hooks worked great. Can’t go wrong with Bandito Bugs either. One of my confidence creature plastic baits. Great action and scent. Wish durability was better though. Bandito bugs lasts longer on screw lock terminal from what I’ve experienced.
