FINESSE SWIMBAIT vs SOFT JERKBAIT: Which Is Better?

Come along for an awesome day of fishing with Matt and his Dad! We’re on vacation in the North to get away from the heat and the bass fishing is on fire! The fish are aggressive, and the water is clear. What more could we ask for?!

This lake is a perfect example of a natural Northern fishery. It has a healthy mix of both largemouth and smallmouth bass, and you can target either one. Today the smallmouth are on finesse patterns and the largemouth are ambushing around shallow cover.

Below you’ll find links to the exact baits and gear we used throughout the morning. We’ve included our favorite colors and sizes for each, as well as any hook upgrades we used. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can find detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

  2. Great video! Always enjoy your videos with your Dad along. He appears to be about my age. I still fish with my kids (some in their 50s now). I like the way you went back through the baits you used before the end of the video. Great tutorial, thanks. Appreciate all that you and Tim do for us.

  3. Always count on the fellas for a good video. First day of school for our little one so this Dad needed something else to think about this morning. Thank you so much for all you do gentlemen! 🙏🎣

  4. I dont get much trips with my dad since he isnt quite the fisherman i am, but my papaw taught me to fish and im thankful for the times i get to take him out on my boat while hes still alive.

  5. Do you notice a difference in the amount of bass you catch (on average) between northern and southern waters? It seems like northern waters produce more just from watching youtube vids. I myself wouldn’t trade the bigger southern largemouth for numbers of smaller bass. I’d sure trade spots during summer though just to beat the heat. I live in Texas and don’t even have AC. It’s over 90 degrees in my mobile home at midnight during July and August because the roof and walls retain the heat and I have every window open.

  6. hi Matt, awesome to see you with your dad again! That radar looked rough near the end. BTW- I was going to say I love that whiplash shad. For a smaller preso, I really love the new 4” Mach skooler! awesome colors, and it has become one of my favorites as well.

  7. Nice to see your dad with you Matt. I finally got my Karashi order could you tell me if you use a split ring.I looked at some bfs videos but just couldnt find out.Thank you.
