What pound test do you dropshot with, and which knot do you prefer? I use a palimar, and if I try to swing a fish into the boat, I pop 8lb flouro.

Hey, will bass hit top water even when its pretty cold? I'm up in northeast Illinois an its usually in the 50s or even 40s in the morning and at dusk. Any info would be appreciated, im pretty new to fishing.
