Exciting Murray cod surface lure fishing and swimbait reel time lure review

Well this Murray cod fishing session turned out MUCH better than I anticipated. I went to film a reel time lure review, then lost the lure after less than half an hour. So I put on a Havok custom lure that I have had for quite a while, and had one of the most exciting and memorable pieces of Murray cod fishing action that I have had for a long time.

  1. I found out something easy to do as well, slightly unrelated to your video. I often use bladed spinners. However I have 2 that just never spin, whoever designed them clearly never tested them. Even if I tie line directly using a loop knot, the blades still never move, whether pulling it fast or slow. But it didn't mean the lure was a throwaway. I decided to pull it apart to make my own lure, I took the blade off, which already has 1 hole, I then put another hole in the end of the blade, so it now has one on either end. On the back hole I placed a treble hook that has small feathers built into it, and on the front hole it is merely the hole to attach it to my line, I use the line clip that also has the swivel, this enables the lure to spin and not spin the line. I tried this lure I made out, and it spins perfectly, it's one of my favourite lures in fact, and it has already caught a small Yellowbelly and it also caught a Redfin, so it works very well. I bet it would catch trout as well, though I rarely go trout fishing.
Essentially I turned it into a spoon type lure.

  2. Just wanted to get some advice are the oar-Gee lures good I have a yellow and green one and a pink and purple one??ps I'm going to invest in some from old mate as well just wanted to know about oar-Gee lures thanks Rob ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. Robbie you inspired me to give freshwater fishing a another chance bait fishing instead of tossing lures. Ive had a ball at Nyah the last few days using worms. cheese an chicken. Got a PB Siver Perch 33cm . A yellow 46 cm ( released) and 4 x cod between 30 cm and 47 cm. Keep the good wk up mate. Tx u.

  4. Looks like I'm the only one robbiefishing, to comment on the Antechinus, just been reading about them and are interesting. The'll be getting testy now the start of their breeding for the year and you're lucky to see them with limited distribution through the great diving range and poor conservation status.

  5. Robbie Nate , what a tin arse catch at the start .Cod are known for that , great stuff mate ..I remember when my mate came up for Melbourne so I took him cod fishing .He rested his rod on a rod holder made from a tree branch. I told him to stay with it ..He didn't and walked away and he happened ..he seen a strike on the rod and in 5 seconds the rocket flew into the river. The worst thing was it was one of my rods …Robbie you take great videos and keep up the great videos .. Look forward to them and showing my wife.
Robbie we use to get a spark plug and run it down the line to release the lure , many times it worked . Thanks Robbie

  6. G-Day Robbie,
I love your vids and watch all of them and envy your time out on the rivers & lakes. Mate can you please please suggest a good spot to be able to park my Toyota Troopy next to the water and do a few days float fishing. I enjoy float fishing as it a nice way to relax after a long run of health not being as good as it should be. Please keep them coming. regards IGGIE

  7. Good action, nice lure mate. It still surprises me, how close the cod will come back to the rod tip. I have always said, never stop winding til the lure is in the guides. You just proved that Robbie. The rivers up your way look so nice, skinny enough to fish the whole thing, from bank, yet extremely healthy, and ripe system. Bloody ripper mate. Good session. 2 thumbs up. ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  8. I always tell my kids – you don't buy lures to keep them for ever. That said – it can really suck losing a favourite or brand new one.
Also if you're not getting snagged then you're not casting close enough to the structure.
Damend if you do and damned if you don't.
