Everyone Uses Dice Baits — But Not Like Japan (Winter Bass)

Dice baits are popular all over the world now—but they weren’t always that way. Not long ago, dice baits like the OSP Saikoro Rubber were considered a local secret in Japan.

In this video, I show how Japanese anglers fish dice baits, especially in winter. The focus is on a technique called the reaction drop shot, where sharp snaps of the rod are followed by a complete pause. This snap-and-pause action creates contrast, brings the lure to life, and can still trigger bites from cold, inactive bass.

I also break down the basic rig setup, including leader length, sinker weight, and how hook choice affects the fall and presentation. You’ll see real fishing footage from a tough winter day on the water—two bites, one fish, and a lot of patience.
