  1. Randy hope you and family stay safe during winter storm. I don't much have an opinion one way or the other as it pertains to FFS I' to old to learn but still have some years to just fish so I put my energy into just fishing. But I just watched 86'/87'Bassmasters at West Point where Chuck Roberts interviewed you in the front of the boat during practice I think. Where you talkedabout a bit ofeverything from you fishing little ole creek by the house to bowling to Criminal Justice Major. I think you should take a moment to watch it something may click to ya as far as where the sport is nowand where it's headedhow you were explaining how the sport has evolved . 24 yrs old man can you imagine having that youth today lol . Lastly I will give you $500for that jacket you were wearing you can keep them red daisy dukes lol. Think might tell ya something to go back in time and listen to your self . Thanks for what you have done and continue to do for the sport.Stay safe and warm.

  2. …and in those Traditional communities we ALL used to know these observations about the different eras of the human lifecycle. Of course, we ALL knew that we were part of the Natural ecosystem too. Now most people's internal mental habitat is extremely disconnected from the external physical habitat- and it shows. Good talk, Randy!

  3. Getting up over your 50’s. Is a challenge. I spent many years masonry a concrete. Took duck seasons off. Hunting everyday of the season. Hard At about 55. Things started going wrong my hip went bad. Shut down my life completely. Now I have a new hip hopefully I can turn it around. Seen many people have something go wrong. And it compounds from there soon they’re gone. Keep trying to keep your body in good shape no matter what it takes. Or life is going to. Suck!!!! Just saying.

  4. I agree completely, but would like to add that we should be examples for younger men spiritually as well. I’m sure some will not agree, but a relationship with Jesus Christ is the best thing you can have at any age.

  5. Been teaching kids about hunting and fishing since I was in my late 40's and they still enjoy the time spent with me even those that are adults now, nice just knowing that l accomplished something good in our lives

  6. At 57,I stay on my motocross bikes And extreme Enduro woods riding,One of the hardest and most challenging work outs on the planet,And feel around 30 years old,A clean nutritional diet as well And also work as a custom carpenter, stair and deck builder, etc, etc! Good Advice 👍

  7. My advice as a Ex Bodybuilder is to go to the gym and make sure you do a lot of leg exercises. Working on your legs will help with balance so you don't fall down and break a hip or something worse. You don't want to lose your ability to walk when you get older. I'm a older man and I can still stand up in my boat and fish all day. You will have to be consistent in going to the gym because results don't happen overnight.

  8. Some advice I'd give for long days in the boat is stretching and staying loose thru the day. Also, no matter your complexion, wear SPF. You get a dose of harmful UV from the sun. And then it reflects off the water and you get a second dose. Lather up!

  9. Part of your video is really good. However, then you go and try to direct others into your agenda. Not sure what to say Randy. You’re old enough to know exactly what you are doing. Shame on you.

  10. Such great advice! I'm 60 and ran my 50th marathon in 18 years. A bit excessive perhaps but it's fun to stay active and helps me feel all around more youthful including when I'm out fishing

  11. Stay in shape, keep learning, stay interested in life, free your mind from the toxicity of social media and society. Your 40’s can be the best of both worlds. I’m 42 and I go with what I feel, and not get too caught up in numbers.

  12. Great advice Randy ! I'm 68 still armwrestling against the youngsters . I can fish 10 to 12 hrs a day in Canada for a week. It's hard to fish a jerk bait all day ! But the point is if I didnt work out alot I couldn't do either . Exercise and good nutrition is the fountain of youth for sure .

  13. I agree – I have been in the gym since my 30's. I am 60 and I still fish with my Son and his buddies, and have no problem keeping up with the longer day trips and weekend trips. The guys my age (5years older and younger) don't go near as often as they used too. Randy is correct about getting in the gym, both weight (resistance training) and cardio. Also focus on you diet (healthy eating). You tube is a great resource for how to train in the gym.

  14. I’m 82 in Florida bass fished three years. Happily married. Started learning just fishing plastic worms Apalachicola River tidal creeks. No one has advice for fishing main river. Gym advice excellent. Mentoring some young people. Hope to be fishing at 92. Have 15 foot 30 year old homebuilt with forty horse Yamaha and simple digital trolling motor. Keep battling electronic abominations.

  15. Randy spot on. I am 53 years old. I will fish a tournament here and there. But at this point and time I don’t ever recognize bass fishing today. When I was in my late 20’s early 30’s we always respected our elders bass fishermen. I met Zell Rowland Tommy Biffle in 1998 and was like in awe just having conversation with pros you looked up to the older guys was a privilege. Showing respect was mandatory.

  16. I'll be 50 in April. My skin has started tearing easily, the aches and pains take longer to go away. But I still catch fish if they're around to catch.
I appreciate your advice Randy. You're a good dude. I work under houses every day and I'm probably underweight at 147. I definitely don't want to stop moving and staying busy. The gym would be a good idea too, but it's hard to do after a day crawling around under houses and working.

  17. Agree working out puts you n the right state of mind and puts you in a more positive mode bike riding kayaking makes my fishing experience sooooo much better
Randy enjoy life pro tournaments are very stressful never really enjoyed fishing when I was in tournaments even my family said was very stressed out
Now my family n friends say they see a huge difference since I don't do tournaments anymore it's a totally different sport tournament fishing now a days compared to the 70s n 80s / technology and atude is changing fishing so glad I got out of tournaments
Enjoy life be happy and never give up fishing 🎣 with the family is so much better then any tournaments watching 👀 my grand kids catching fish
Thanks for all ur videos n knowledge randy been their n done that it's family time now
    Fish 🐟 ON BROTHER

  18. Amen spot on thank you very much for telling the truth I’m 58 and very lucky I can still do the bass fishing and whitetail thing – your 100 percent correct and yes we do have a lot to pass down if anyone what’s to listen thank you again for putting it in the correct context and taking the time to pass it along p.s. Roland martins favorite spot on lake Champlain were his son now Scott Martin fishes every time he comes here is rock river to the west swanton bridge lucky now I can fish it every day seeing I live right here so ya – I will pass down as much as I can and still enjoy bass fishing / eat healthy / exercise keep stress down and Rock on.

  19. I’m little older than you and retired, was carpenter for forty years. My body is pretty worn out hips, knees etc. surprisingly my back is ok. My hands don’t work like they used to. I don’t let it stop me though, use it or lose it is what I go by👍

  20. Randy. I am 71 years older retired and want to Finnish my life out fishing on lake guntersville. You hit it on the money about age but iam not ready to stop my dream of fishing. Thanks.

  21. Say it louder for the people in the back. I’m 43 and extremely out of shape. You don’t have to be over 50, once you start to feel older you better start doing something or you will fall apart quick

  22. I’m 75 and go to exercise class 3 days a week. I walk on the off days, and do the outdoor chores myself rather than paying someone to do it. Randy, you are spot on. It’s true, if you don’t use it you lose it.

  23. So true Randy, at 56 I do cycling, weights, yoga, kettlebell swings, TRX…I do it all. I even became a personal trainer to help others. Not bragging but I look and feel much better than my friends my age or younger. Although biased, my daughters tell me I look like I’m in my 40s. I’ll take it lol.

Any you guys need online training advice feel free to send me a message.

  24. I know guys that crappie fish with FFS that are literally raping (limiting out) the crappie population day after day. I’m not sure the percentage of crappie that are in the average bass diet, but I’d argue we’ll see a decline in the quality of bass and crappie catches from top to bottom. I would bank on the need for state fisheries managers to propose regulation changes (i.e. slot and reduced catch limits) in the next 3-4 years here in SC.

  25. You are definitely correct. I'm 72 and still in the media side of fishing and shooting after 51 years, which is definitely a teaching process. As for the physical side of things, I also work as a Trail Tamer for a conservation department, which keeps me constantly exercising with tree work of all types, mowing areas on steep hills by hand with larger mowers can not safely go, and clearing/maintaining and building new trails. Virgil Ward, Bill Norman, John Campbell, Lonnie Stanley and Forrest Wood, all played parts in my career, and from them I learned a lot. Now, as you said, the younger ones don't want to listen, and is why I turned down a TV gig on a regular show with a young woman as the host. After I didn't sugar coat anything and told her my age, she knew it would go well for the younger audience that she was wanting to play to for her ratings. So guys listen to Randy. He knows what he is talking about. When I had my radio show I was reporting about his first tournament accomplishments, as well as in my newspaper and magazine columns. Hang in there Randy. You are still a young man to us older guys. 🤣

  26. Hey man please make a mental monday playlist ive been lookin for one you did maybe a year or 3 ago this was so good gave me goosebumps and ws so on point with my life at that time.
