ESSENTIAL Ned Rig Bass Fishing Tips (How to Fish this Popular Finesse Technique)

Hey there, it’s the Bass University, and today we’re talking about the Ned Rig! It’s a finesse rig that all species of bass live. The Ned Rig looks like a do-nothing soft plastic stickbait, perfect for small baits like Z-Man’s TRD or baby d-bombs. I like to have different colored heads ready to go, especially chartreuse for those smallmouth bass. Natural bait colors like green pumpkin and purple flakes work great, especially in clear water around pressured fish.

When it comes to head sizes, I prefer going light with an eighth ounce, even in 25 feet of water. A slow, natural fall is what I’m after. And speaking of hooks, the Northland tackle nedster with a gamakatsu hook is my go-to for its strength and penetration.

Now, for the rod and reel setup, I love a seven-foot medium-light rod that lets me reel into the fish without heavy hooksets. 10-pound braided line with a 10-pound fluorocarbon leader works best for navigating around grass and zebra mussels.

So, if you want some awesome bass action, give the Ned Rig a try! It’s simple, effective, and you’ll be reeling them in like a pro. Join us for more fishing fun at https://bassu.tv
