Early FALL TOPWATER Bass Fishing (Smith Mountain Lake)

Fall is definitely one of my favorite times of year to throw a topwater! Whether that be a frog, walking bait, plopper, etc.. the bass are experiencing those cooler nights and they know winter is coming. I think that’s why sometimes you get those furious topwater bites.. they gotta get to it first before their buddy eats it! I feel like treble hook baits like a plopper are king this time of year for that reason but sometimes the leaves on the surface give you no option but to throw something weedless like a frog.
