Early Fall Mississippi River Fishing for Smallies

It’s the start of fall and my brother, Ricky’s, first time on the Mississippi. We’re at Monticello, Minnesota on the hunt for some smallmouth bass!

Whether it’s just a few dinks or (hopefully) a 4 pounder lurking somewhere on the river… all we want is to catch some fish…

It’s my first time getting on smallmouth bass with my Megabass Levante BFS F2-64LV paired with 2022 Shimano Aldebaran BFS! It was super smooth with virtually zero backlash and casts the 3/16oz. Megabass Karashi a mile! Smallies loved to hit the Karashi on the slow fall and I even caught a pike on it. Such a fun and sick bait! Time to get some topwater on this set up soon.

Of course, we caught plenty on Vision 110’s and sucker minnows as well. Always a good time on river!
