It’s actually TIME, and I am surprised!
Water temperatures peaked to the mid to high 80’s a few weeks ago here in Central Iowa. During my most recent fishing trip, I noticed that the temperatures only climbed to the high 70’s; while still warm, this is definitely less than I thought it would be. This is the sign that fall fishing is starting!
While the full fledge fall feeding was not present on my body of water (at least to my knowledge), things are heading in the right direction. There still are healthy numbers of smaller bass shallow willing to chase and hit a topwater. Likewise there are fish out deeper who have been beat up by constant pressure but can still be caught by the patient yet persistent angler.
Watch as I catch numbers of fish on a topwater classic, as well as a few offshore on brush and rocks on crankbaits and jigs.
