Dropshot fishing for bass is an amazing way to catch fish but most anglers don’t realize its a great way to catch giant bass as well.
Ross explains how to fine tune your gear and dropshot technique to catch bigger bass around docks and cover.

Great job as always Matt! I guide fish down here in Texas and like you I really never picked up the drop shot, I made it a point this fall to throw it more as our highland lakes get so much fishing pressure throughout the year along with our droughts that fall/winter fishing has become tougher throughout the last few years. I have to admit this technique is already producing some really good fish along with numbers! I admire that you brought Ross onboard to show his expertise and your humbleness. I spend about 2 weeks a year up in the LA area visiting family and look forward to booking a trip with you soon, keep up the great work on the channel, we out here appreciate it. Tight lines!
Great video! Loved his teaching style! Thanks Ross 👍🏻
this is why you guys are the best…your always learning more to put in your bag of tricks…im a wacky rig junkie the last 10 years and the last couple getting hooked on the drop shot…loved it thank you
Great Information
Great information! Thanks to both of you.
Nice!! Thanks to both you guys!!
See how a drop shot rig looks under water.

This guy talks like Tim and Glenn May mixed together
You said it. I like catching fish on light tackle…it’s fun. That’s exactly how I feel. I like to go as light as I can, it makes the catch that much more thrilling!
WELL !! MAKE A CAST
Ross needs his own channel. What a wealth of info. Thanks so much for including him.
Hello Matt and Tim. Took your advice and took Grand Daughter to Clear Lake to catch her first fish. Told Ross We didn't care what she catches, just stretch her line. Ross England put her right on her first fish ever. Then it was a total of 3 bass and 40+Blue Gill. yeah I know that's a fish story, but its not. It was ridiculous. I know this is not to your main type of fishing, but for her Its a memory of a life time and hope it keeps her interested in it for her lifetime. Thanks Again for the info. Be Safe Pete
This is exactly what I needed to hear about the drop shot! Went out today got lucky on one but just couldn’t get another bite! Im a local on Lake Chickamauga in Chattanooga TN and it’s getting tons of pressure right now so finesse is where it’s at unless you want to throw an umbrella rig and I kinda consider that bogus fishing lol.
I take it 1 more step. Once I tie the Palomar and then bring the tag-end back through the eye again….I PULL THE LINE SO THAT THE KNOT IS UNDER THE EYE….this allows the hook to sort of stand on the knot and makes it stand out straight. Make sense?
Thanks for being so humble and passing on this info even though it was from someone else. Takes a bigger man to admit someone is better than you at something. I love to drop shot but would love to catch bigger fish
So he doesn't tie a knot on the dropshot sinker? Just crimp it?
Dog in the background brings back a memory of when I was a kid. The family dog was in my bedroom sniffing my lure tied onto my rod. $300 dollar vet bill later, she was unhooked. Lol. Dad tried but got bit. Memories
Hey guys, what kind of dog is that??
Thanks guys! Great info! God bless you.
I'm in love with the Dropshot Rig…..💟
Great video for a noob like me — thank you!!
i love drop shot
I'm convinced, Matt and Tim need a dog…and I need some dropshot gear ASAP.
21" 10 lbs is my pb on large mouth.. off a swedish pimple 😁
Great instruction Ross. Thank you
Mr England, next time could we have more of the dog? That dog is so adorable!
Bro you could be some badass dropshot fisherman if you use it more and practice
love the tips… always try to listen when the people familiar with a lake or an area are talking… they live there, they know. thanks for the help. 😊
What model of Powell spinning rod is Ross using? No product found on that link.
Thanks,
RedA
I love it when people teach how to fish, not just rigging because everyone can rig a drop shot but actually teach what to do, and how to work a hook into a fishes mouth. Great example and it’s something that most don’t do. I’ve seen about 10 drop-shot but only a couple of them actually teach you, so thanks!
I grew up not too far from clear lake! Kelseyville was home for 20 years. Now I find Iowa home. Would love to get back to the land of big fish! Iowa is too far south for big colder water fish and too far north for big warm water fish. It's real rough going here for an avid fisherman. Lol! Wish I could go back for a fishing visit.
Please ask Ross to join you again…and again. Clear and concise. Great teacher. Thx guys.
Thank you! Headed up to Clear Lake next month and this helped me very much!
great explanation and knowledge share thanks Ross.
