  1. I'll just say this, when I had more time to fish I would check things out more…moon, solunar, tides, etc. Now if I have time to fish I just go! Time on the water is what matters to me now.

  2. If a bass eats at night during a full moon it only makes sense that during the daylight hours the next day, it will be less hungry, therefore, not actively feeding. Putting all of the other variables aside ( barometric pressure, clouds, wind, sun, etc. ) one would think bass fishing would be more productive a day or two prior to the new moon, and just after. In a perfect world, I’d plan a day of bass fishing one or two days prior to the new moon. But, like most fishermen, I fish when I can.

  3. I work midnights so a lot of my fishing is done at neighborhood ponds at night (sometimes soon after dark, sometimes in the middle of the night) or early morning while the family sleeps. The only real difference I have seen is it's easier to physically fish when the moon is bright, just because of the ambient light. The bite doesn't seem to change much. But, activity at dawn seems way down during a full moon, so they must be feeding overnight…just maybe not as aggressively as I'd prefer.

  4. FREAKING LOVE THIS TOPIC STEVE.,, the video just started and it's 0:01 but I know where this is going. The moon affects all wildlife. Every guided trip I have booked has been based on it/solunar. I KNOW where this is going. Love it when we agree… now we return to our regular scheduled program…. NICE! gonna add my two bits to it. Some, myself included, not only base our beliefs on the visibility aspects of it, buy by the barometric effects of gravity on water caused when the moon is overhead or on the opposite side of the planet (underfoot). Bet you know all this Steve. But for my buddies here, look into it and that App Steve was talking about. Then adjust to be fishing the noon and midnight times when the sun is also affecting gravity the most by also being overhead or under foot (think tides)…. Now, be one the water already and in full on fishing mode at the times the sun and moon are both overhead or across the planet. These times always correspond to the highest and lowest tides. Our salt water fisherbrothers and sisters do this all the time. but water is water and even without the word tide at play, it affects freshwater fishing as well100%. …catch record from tourneys as well as hunting records bear this out. Wildlife above and below water are most active at those times. Friends of Steve here, Google "solunar tables" ….Thanks Steve, I just love talking fishing with a beer in me. Out.

  5. I have been keeping logs of the moon phase while fishing for years. What I have found that after a full moon I've done much better with faster reaction baits the next day. My best fishing has always come around a new moon phase or shortly after.

  6. In – Fisherman. Years ago did a study on some bass (( when they figured out radio transmitters)). Followed a large bass habits When there was a foul moon 🌕 when at night the fish would aggressively hunt for food in its home range every full moon phase. Just saying.

  7. I keep seeing big schooling bass hanging around the bluegill beds during the day time of the full moon and they will not hit anything for me at least. Nice one though. Thanks

  8. I caught my biggest largemouth under a new moon. They were up feeding in the shallows. Nailed it with topwater. I think the darkest nights makes them more comfortable coming into shallow water.

  9. Here's one for ya'…My dear Pops would always "watch the cows", both day and night, regardless of the moon. He even believed that coincided with fish activity. He even said it varies…ya' could have cows laying on the way to the lake but if they were up near the lake, the bite should be good. I've actually used this premise…maybe I've caught more fish at those times because I fis hed harder remembering the good man that introduced me to fishing. Tight lines, God bless ya', God bless everybody.

  10. I’m not sure I have noticed a difference in catch rates but I have certainly seen an increase in size of fish caught at night/low light conditions. This is true of more than just Bass. I catch much bigger Trout and Walleye at night as well.

  11. I’m a believer in major and minor times. Too many times I have noticed the changes that correlate with the times. Also, I absolutely hate fishing the day after a full moon.

  12. Great subject ! Personally, I love night fishing around the summer full moons, not because they bite better, but because I can see better ! Not to mention the temperature is much more pleasent ! I do believe it plays a roll though …..

  13. Hey, Steve, pray you are well. I am about to go fishing. I do not know about the moon. I have fished a full moon at night and caught nothing. Sometimes I did catch fish. I have no idea. Be safe and have a great day

  14. I believe the moon plays a minor role, normally, but I mainly fish a tidal fishery where the moon pretty much controls the tides. How high or low and how fast the water moves in and out changes daily as the moon changes.
