Understanding if you really need a 200 or 300 size reel as you look into fishing bigger baits, swimbaits, glidebaits, etc. requires understanding of a few key comparison metrics. Starting here we will like up the 200K Shimano Curado and the 300K to look at how they perform and compare.

I like my 300 size Shimano Curado’s and Diawa Tatulas on my big 8 food deep diving crank bait rods. It makes deep diving cranks much easier.
I came to watch due to title but seems i missed something. One of the biggest reasons I came was to hear whether you need a 200 or step up to 300.
At what point or lure weight do you feel the need to step into the 300? Speaking almost exclusively swimbaits, providing the correct spec'd rod is used, would you step up at 1.5oz+, 3oz+ or XYZ+?
Its easy. If you fish big baits and need a thicker line or you want to be able to throw long casts then go with 300 size… If not, you can fish with the 200.
If i only want to choose one reel i would pick the 300 size.
Great video, I am just starting to dable into swimbaits and glidebaits. What is your prefrence? Daiwa or Shimano? Do you have any expereince with the Tatula 300?
This is a amazing video
Spitting facts.. and.. knowldedge (:41)
Great points, but you missed the most important factor. Gears. That's the first thing that'll go on a 200 sized reel that's being overworked. Drag is nearly irrelevant now that most companies have wised up to carbon fiber or "carbontex" drag washers instead of cheap "dartanium", plastic or felt washers. You'll never need more than 10lbs of drag on a bass fishing reel…PERIOD. You can add more drag by applying thumb pressure if needed. That being said, the most important thing is CONSISTENT and SMOOTH drag pressure. Sticky drags used to be the number one cause of lost fish back in the day. Imagine presetting your drags for 7lbs while fishing 12lb line, then your cheap drag washer stick with a fish on, or on the hookset. knot failure if you're not tying a 100% connection knot or, your line detonates. Great edits, and congrats on breaking 1k subs.
great video! nice edits brotha
