Do Not Buy the 13 Fishing Defy Black Swimbait Rod! (Brutally Honest Review)

THIS REVIEW IS BRUTALLY HONEST! I bought the 13 fishing defy black swimbait rod and you should not do the same! With not even a year under its belt the rod is already falling apart. Do not buy this rod, I repeat DO NOT BUY THIS ROD!

  1. 7'6 meta series rods by 13 fishing endorse by Gerald swindle i have 2 i love them lake fork and O.H Ivie have put them to there limits and more is on the way here soon maybe Santa will send me some lol

  2. everybody talks so much about these defy black rods but very little about the defy gold series. I bought one (Defy gold) in MH and so far its been good..love the look and feel but would love to see/hear some reviews from people with more experience with them

  3. Its actually made for big paddle tail jig hook baits not treble hook baits. never had an issue and it works just as good as my Huddleston deluxe swimbait rod. $200 difference and almost the same feel with 50lb braid

  4. Good rod . U probably just abuse ur rods . Or stepped on it . Used mine for light musky tackle and nvr had an issue. My only gripe ever with 13 fishing was slow warranty return for a cracked guide insert .

  5. Hey Todd what's up? I just got the new Defy black and they used double footed guides all the way to the tip and has a different blank that seems to be more parabolic. I also got the tried and true Dobytns 806. This rod definitely seems to be improved. Time will tell. I have a fury 795, 806 and this Defy for my Swimbaits duty and I'll let u know how it is. Hopefully no more cracking around the guides. Time will tell.Have a killer season!

  6. What's up Todd. I just bought my second one today Lol. I had the same problem with my first one with the resin cracking around the guides and the whole guide sliding right out. This is the new and improved version supposedly so we will see! I also bought a 806 Dobyns Fury. I liked the blank on the E 13 for Burritos and other soft single hooked baits while the Dodyns has a much better for treble hooked hard baits like 9 inch slammers. Good luck this season! So pumped!! Cabin Fever bad!!!

  7. “My buddy makes the rod” lol This video is compromised. Also you get what you pay for. It’s not going to last long, which is what he’s complaining about.

  8. Thanks for the review i really appreciate it. As far as flair's rods. You should never buy youtubers fishing gear, half them go to lakes that have fish any rods can catch so when they field test their most likely going to lakes full of fish.

  9. All of my rods are 13 Fishing, and I agree that rod sucks…. I didn't think you could get anything stiffer than a broom stick. I've used mine twice and its still in perfect condition but getting it to load up enough to cast a lure is hard as hell… And I'm throwing some pretty massive lures too..!!! Now as for all my other Defy rods, I wouldn't trade them for anything, they greatly exceeded my expectation's…!

  10. Just got this exact set up. The 8 foot defy perfectly balances the 300 tranx. Going to be a light action musky rod. Double 8s and 6" tubes mostly.
I hope your experience isn't mine!!
I'll let you know after our trip to the French River at the end of September.

  11. I just saw today the Omen black with the same spec as yours…. Do you think the Omen is better in terms of quality because the rod looks so sick and great.. It cost 199$ canadian dollars. I think Omen is in the higher trim and should be more reliable would do think?

  12. Appreciate the honest feedback. Curious if you would give the 7’1” DEFY Black Med-Heavy action rod a shot after this experience as there may be issues with the product line in general? Or just this specific rod? Thanks!

  13. Maybe your rod you bought is just defective. I bought a 13 fishing blackout and when i got it all setup it snapped on me when i was just testing the flex on the rod. I brought the broken rod back to the store and they replaced it, no questions asked. I set it up again, tested the flex and all is good!

Once again, its probably just a defective rod.

  14. Hey man! Love the vid. Something I would recommend is looking at pike-rods, especially from the European market if you're in the market of swimbait-rod testing. I can probably get you a decent deal for something that'll sling baits for 3 to 9 oz depending on what kinda size baits you throw. There's so many to pick from!

  15. I have an arsenal of 13 defy/omen casting and spinning rods! Great rods for the price but as far as my big bait rods, I don’t use 13’s. I have 2 irod swimbait rods. 1) 8’ gen lll heavy swimbait 2) 8’6” gen lll extra heavy mag. For $150, these rods are amazing!
