  1. I have a 3 acre 10' deep pond loaded with big bass. Each year I burn a lure out on it. The more aggressive the lure the sooner they stop biting it. A senko worm has worked since I started fishing it.
Lately I am thinking even the finesse lures can get burned out.

  2. Bass are instinct driven animals. Their brains are about 1/2 the size of your thumbnail. Lake Chic is not really a good lake to use as an example. It is so incredibly heavily fished that Bass are getting conditioned to almost all lures. They only have short term memory and forget things within as little a time as 20 minutes to as long as 2 weeks. They are not physically or genetically capable of passing on any learned behavior because they do not have generational learning. The Fry are barely as big as your pinky when they are abandoned by their parents. Any “learning” a Bass does is completely forgotten each Spring when their need to breed totally overruns their instinctual behavior. Bass are not stupid creatures, but they don’t learn in any manner that is passed on to the next generation. Their brains are not structured in that manner and they don’t evolve in any form that would be recognizable in a human lifetime. Bass will continue to be caught as man finds more ways to catch them.

  3. They probably have a better memory than I do. I'm old and go outside to do something and get sidetracked into doing some other work and totally forget about why I went to do the first job.

  4. Heh. First.

Maybe fish will start being uncatchable with lures. It's also related but I know different levels of intelligence there Elk in some areas are avoiding and just not answering bugle calls during hunting season

  5. I predominantly fish shallow. And the lakes I fish are heavily pressured. I watched a video that talked about pressured fish. A tip to get more bites is to turn off the sonar on the electronics. They are so use to getting pinged and they remember that I believe.
