  1. Looking for macro "differences" is not how to confirm or deny identity/individuality of a bass, If there are no similarities, THEN they are different. They did not look closely enough at scale color patters (which is a 'fingerprint'), at an individual level. Looking at FINS is notoriously unreliable-they are the most changeable part of a bass' anatomy-either on purpose or accidentally.
