I just found out Dick’s Sporting Goods sells fishing gear again! A few years ago all of my locals DSG stores stopped selling fishing stuff. I even have an old video about it! So I just had to stop over there to see what they have. While I didn’t get anything this time, I will add it to the list of stores to shop for fishing gear. After Dick’s Sporting Goods, I went to Academy Sports. This is where I found some bass fishing lures on Clearance so I decided to spend $20. Not the biggest fan of dsg. My local one never stopped selling lures, but the selection was abysmal and severely overpriced to include bps.
I went to Dick’s after viewing this, they have restocked here in NY, but no sales yet.
Kastmasters are surprisingly great lures. Kinda high for what they are at normal price but they do catch. KiR
I wish that academy would put a store near me. I live in Michigan and would think it would do well with all the lakes here.
I haven't stepped foot in Dicks since they made their "big announcement" and reason for getting rid of firearms/ammo and hunting gear.
We have a Dunhams close by, so I go there. If I'm fishing away from home and feel the need for anything, I try to find a "mom-n-pop" shop.
Dick’s has never NOT carried fishing gear.
When i use to go into Dicks sporting goods i always look at the mural of Dicks sporting goods beginning , just a good old fishing tackle and bait shop. They like st they're way several year back and i pass it by.

I am surprised a company hasn't askes you to design a lure….I'd use a Realistic Lure as it would be designed by someone who knows what works. KIR
The Dick's stores around here got rid of the lodge area of hunting and fishing stuff. They added more work out clothing for women. Most of the store is clothes and shoes, higher mark up. They have little to do with sports anymore. A real shame since the original Dick's was almost entirely fishing stuff. I noticed BPS also now concentrates on clothing, especially in their printed ads.
The local Dicks up the road from here sells fishing gear but their inventory and selection is small. I think it’s regional. Our local Walmart has a fair supply but 30 min south a Walmart near the largest man made lake in America Grand Lake has a huge inventory of everything.

DSG got lame after they stopped selling anything to do with hunting including clothes.
Luckily I had a Bass ProShops in the next town over
My local dicks never stopped selling fishing equipment, so this is all new news to me!
I dislike Dicks very much. They removed all firearms ( shotguns , long guns ) ammo, knives , bow n arrow, hunting gear. I asked when did the communists suspend the 2nd amendment. Corporate decision. I buy now use amazon or local small businesses. Welcome to NJ were you go to jail defending you house and family.
My Dicks store was converted to a big Field and Stream, then converted back to Dicks. They always had a big fishing section. Prices are kinda higher than other places for the same item so I rarely shop there and it's 3 min from the house.
Dicks can go to hell. Refuse to buy anything from them.
The Dick’s in my area are loaded with good fishing isles. There’s probably six solid isles of fishing gear that’s well managed.

Can’t help but wonder how FFS has affected the inventory they carry.
Our local one has some stuff, but the selection is pretty bare bones compared to other places in the area.

The Kastmaster is my go to trout spoon for lake fishing.
I don't like the clam shells either! I like the extra space too and sometimes the worms get a bent tail and it is a different presentation.
I also noticed that, in California, Dick’s greatly reduced their fishing gear. Hope they are reviving their tackle sales here too.
