Daiwa Alphas BF TW Cast Testing for Freestyle BFS Fishing. Yes that is a new hot term Shimano made for anglers like me who does not use Fluorocarbon line, but PE to keep the spool light. But will it work for this reel as it utilize a new braking style, the SS Magforce. This is the 2nd reel Daiwa have put this braking system in, the first model was the 2023 SS Air TW. That reel sports a size 28mm spool while this one sports a 30mm. Let’s see how low this reel can handle and how this braking system behave with lighter lures!

Nice cast session jimbo !! For me I use this reel for the 3/16-3/8oz range and it shines. I was surprised though on some of the lighter weights it actually did pretty well. Thank you for the content as usual keep up the great work
Awesome video! I have the bf 70 and the px bf 70 and I love them! The bf 70 is on a presso air rod and the px 70 is on the px vertical master. At first I was disappointed in the bf 70 casting but after about 200 casts, it started to really chuck light baits. The px 70 was casting amazingly out of the box. I wonder if the alpha's bf tw will cast better after a few hundred casts.
I like bfs but the noodle rods needed to cast some of these tiny lures are not fun for me to fish with. But a light reel with a bfs that holds a bit of line ifs groovy.
As tempting as it is, I think I'm going to stick with my SS Air TW. Great vid, Jimmy!

try with 1.5-2g wobble not jig+gum, 1g jig plus gum launches any cast reel today, daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom launches 1.5g wobble without any problem, your tests in which you use jigs have no relevance to reality

Recently took the BF TW out for trout fishing and it cast 2 gram lures with ease and will cast a trout magnet with very good distance just like what you did in this video. Had it paired up with my Mavllos Plume Rod 1-8g at that time. Currently have 6lb Invisx spooled up but without a doubt wouldn't mind trying braid since I have braid on all my other BFS reels. Compared to my Aldebaran BFS on the same rod, it does outcast the BF TW but that is not what the BF TW was intended do. Overall a very smooth reel. I did add 2 more bearings to the handle knobs and it made the reel a whole lot better. Can't wait to catch some striped bass and largie/smallies on this reel.
