You may keep Smallmouth Bass up to limits stated in the BC Fishing Regulations. Let them go if they are tagged! Those fellas are used for research purposes to understand the effect they have on the Cultus Lake ecosystem.

you should always kill all pike minnows. They eat salmon fry and trout. They will decimate salmon populations

I haven't caught any smallmouth there yet but tons of pikeminnow. It definitely doesn't take long to kayak the perimeter i did the full round trip this past summer and look forward to doing it again. Especially knowing top water works there lol. Great video

Cool tip for fishing a popper with a spinning Rod …. Tighten the drag down tighter than usual for the initial strike and loosen after you've set the hook π

Smallmouth this time of year tend to commit more to striking a lure that is traveling faster. They have less time to analyze what they are hitting.
