Crankbait Tricks For Winter and Early Spring Bass Fishing!

You’ve been going to slow! High Speed Burner Reels in Winter? Really? Oh that’s just the beginning… Come along for a day on the water with Matt and Tim as they burn crankbaits and draw reaction strikes from bass in 46 degree water. The guys hold nothing back as they teach how to trigger a feeding frenzy with the Tactical DD Crankbait.

Winter was always considered a slow fishing period. Many anglers Winterize their boats and give up completely. Unbeknownst to the masses some of the best fishing of the entire year exists in the dead of Winter. By experimenting with a new style of fishing we’ve been able to consistently trigger reaction bites from the coldest of bass under the harshest of conditions. They key is a combination of speed, sound, and action.

In November of 2019 we released the Tactical DD Crankbait with River2Sea. This crank is designed for these exact cold water conditions. It sold out immediately and has been nearly impossible to find ever since. Today the crankbaits are back in stock so we headed out on the water to teach you exactly how to use them. Don’t settle for one bass here or one bass there, its time to trigger a feeding frenzy in cold water!

Below is a breakdown of the baits, colors, equipment, and upgrades we use to maximize our time on the water with the crankbait.

  1. Ok I was placing a order at discount tackle. Then I noticed they didn’t have hooks. Is there a special size and snap ring. Please let me know I’m ready to fish this week in 39 degree water at Elephant Butte

  2. Hey Guys, Had a club Tournament Saturday on Lake Murray in SC, small club only 9 boats showed temps were in the 30’s to start, water temp was 49 degrees. Not the best conditions but me and my Son ended up finishing 2nd thanks to your Crankbait ! We fished the same two y’all fished in this video, we were One of Two boats that finished with limits !! We fished secondary points, usually the Carolina rig would produce something, but we could only get bit, like You said with a reaction bite !! Great advice, Great video, and an Awesome Crankbait !!! Do You have a Squarebill version ? Joe

  3. I've been a subscriber for a long time and I love the information here. Can you do an episode for shore fishing tactics, the spawn in southern California is going to be soon, I want to get a couple of castaic hogs this year.

  4. Great video as usual.
I just (finally) received a box of your Tactical DD Cranks. They look amazing but haven’t fished them yet. Headed to Lake Ouachita for the pre-spawn the first week in April. My question: do I need to change out your hooks and split rings or are they all good to go out of the box??? Really looking for your input here. Thanks for all the content you provide.

  5. Crankbaits showed up today😁. If you were to throw these in a somewhat shallow farm pond what weight line would u use? Let's say from sub surface to 6 to 8 feet?
