I would much rather see young people fishing and having good clean fun than having them do drugs and steal property etc. Some of these older people are just pure killjoys and must lead a miserable and unhappy existence. I don't agree with these people harassing these boat fisherman. But as a bank and dock fisherman I have had so much rude intrusion in the water I was fishing in. If they see you catch a fish here the all come. Really.

The cop is wrong on where he said you can only fish around her house cause if she gives you permission to fish you can fish anywhere on that body of water. So the police officer needs to get his fishing laws straight.

It can vary based on the HOA rules, but a lot of them the property owner has to be present. If not, you can be asked to leave etc – and if you don't you can be trespassed. Now – if she was on the boat with you, and the cop said to keep it by her house, he'd be in the wrong – once you have legit access to the water, you're good for all of it you can float on more or less – even though technically this might not even be considered a navigable waterway.
In any event – I only fish HOA owned lakes if the homeowner is with me just in case.

I'm amazed at the amount of recreational anglers that have the cops called on them. Are these lakes man made or natural bodies of water? If they are a natural body of water no home owner or home owner representative body should have any jurisdiction in trying to keep it from public use….
