I will further break down the confrontation in a future video, that link will be provided here:

Today was the second tournament of the year for UMBCS on Big Chetac and Birch Lake in Birchwood, WI. We had a bag that was 10.06 lb, and we finished 20th out of 46 boats. It was a tough tournament for most teams, and we were only 3/4 of a pound out of a check.

  1. Hard for us viewers to really know who was in the wrong here, as we don't have the view that you have. We also don't know; was this guy backing his pontoon out of his dock after just having launched? Then you're telling him which direction he should go? It seems unlikely that he was just cruising along and decided to get between you and the shore, where you were fishing. I will say this, you seemed a bit rude to the other boater with your hand gestures, directing him where to go, and I say this as a bass fisherman with a bass boat. I never do tournaments; my fishing buddy and I kinda laugh at the tourney guys, who are so serious and uptight while they fish. Why take all of the fun out of fishing like that, and get into confrontations?

  2. a guy bumped into me while I was retying and on spot-lock — I had just bought my ultrex and his boat hit my trolling motor. needless to say, he lipped off about me being in the way of his drift (walleye fishing on the mississippi river and I'm a basshole at heart), I politely invited him to the boat ramp where his kid could watch me beat his dad's ass. he declined.

  3. I have a lake home on Birch, I'm not anti fishing but on that particular pair of lakes they hold 4 or 5 tournaments a summer. So we have a TON of bass boat activity and to say the land owners are tired of the loud speeding dock crowding bass boats would be a major understatement. I feel they they should trim it down to 2 tournaments a year so everyone is happy. For the record, when I'm on my dock with my kids swimming near by and a bass boat comes within 15 yards of us casting I dont lose my shit but I definitely do not appreciate it.

  4. I had a similar situation last year fun fishing on my home lake I'm fishing a ledge in a flat that drops off in a 20-ft water and there's about a hundred yards between me and the shoreline and I'm casting up towards the shoreline and dragging a big worm back across so I'm sitting out in on the edge and deep water the fish are up on the flat and this guy in a pontoon boat sees me catch two and starts heading over towards me and he drives right between me and the damn bank right over the top of the flat and stops in front of me to start talking to me I was so pissed and I tried to be nice and I asked the gentleman if this was his first year on the water with a boat and he said yes and after he did that I kind of lightened up a little bit and explain to him that you don't go between a boat and the bank you just don't it's a pretty good general rule of thumb to follow. I'm starting to notice a big biased against guys and bass boats that's all I do is bass fish and tournament bass fish and these guys and ski boats and pontoon boats and fishing skis you know what I'm talking about they all act like they own the damn water and I rarely had a problem with another bass fisherman it's generally The weekend warriors out there in their pontoons and stuff that I've had problems with.

  5. Had that happen too, I just wait till I see where they parked their boat, cruise on over and fish all around their boat and dock. It drives them nuts and they usually will watch you the whole time. Great way to waste their time and get some fishing in too!
