The 2023 Fall Run got off to an epic start in Monmouth County, New Jersey, with 20- to 40-pound bass feasting on peanut bunker right in the surf.
Jimmy heads to the shore during the last week of October, bouncing around from beach to beach, hoping he doesn’t get there just in time to hear the fisherman’s least favorite sentence: “You shoulda been here yesterday.”

Should probably have headed further south
I grew up in Monmouth County, 1 mile from the beach. I never had much luck surf casting. I did have luck jetty fishing. I used to hang all my gear on my bicycle and go from Spring Lake, to Sea Girt to Manasquan. The water looks a lot cleaner and clear than it did when I was a kid.
Really great video quality and production. in my opinion this year has not been half as good as last year I missed about five sessions because I procrastinated I have an hour drive I have been catching them on Spin and fly I especially loved your Release Technique with the rod on your shoulder I've never seen that before very nice good job out there good luck!
“He should have been there yesterday” has been the motto of my fall run as well, so I feel you on that! Still plenty of fish out there to be caught. Just have to keep persevering and hope the reward will follow!
Great episode OTW! Any chance you can give us a lead on where you got the rod holder for your SUV? Having trouble fabricating mine, and yours looks pretty universal!
14:55 Sweet Tony 😍😍
Stripers been on fire in Jersey ‼️‼️‼️ im in North Jersey and fish from the pier… I've caught one keeper, all the others too big 40s" & 50s"… My keeper was 31"
Man, his surf bag looks cumbersome!
Aint that the truth. Having had a bad case of the "shoulda been here yesterdays", most of October into November, I found the bass on 11/29 and slammed 18 in an hour. Lucky?? Oh yes, but the perseverance paid off FINALLY!! Keep hunting and chucking. Tight lines all!!!
Not as good as last year, been doing the same running and gunning from Sandy Hook to Seaside but not even close to the madness from last year’s fall run 🎣🍺
I do the opposite i see the crowds and move on. I rather go home with no fish but both eyes intact and not taken out by a googan casting from behind me
Man you put on a great show it was fun watching you hunt them come on down to Nc we nail them in the winter in the lakes record is 66lbs so ya they get big and same as salt follow the seagulls and shad they will be there in huge schools
Great episode. Oh yeah
People see a blitz and don’t realize the biggest ones chill outside of it
the bite totally skipped us here in Ct we didn't even have silversides
God rest your (our) soul(s).
I feel your pain. I´ve missed all the big blow up so far. I´ve enjoyed the few fish I got and am thankful for them. I´ve enjoyed the people I have met, but it would be nice to have one blitz day. Keep at it. Tight lines
Had me falling off the couch laughing at the end with here comes the voice over that it’s not about the fish! Like you said better than being at a desk. Great video buddy!
Lmao great video man your commentary is funny as hell 🤣we have all been there chasing reports just to arrive as the bite dies down. part of the game of chasing bites i suppose…
I would still say, that was worth the trip !!
What rod are you using ?
Amazingly, I saw a brief striper blitz yesterday (Nov. 28) PM in Sandy Bay, Rockport, MA. …late departures, obviously.
