This video was recorded in Wisconsin and features the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
In the state of Wisconsin, largemouth bass season generally runs from the first Saturday in May through the first Sunday in March of the following year. Now, it’s always important to check the specific body of water you intend to fish as this regulation may vary. Largemouth bass also have a minimum size limit of 14-inches. Anglers are permitted to target largemouth bass throughout the rest of the year for catch and release purposes only.
In the end, the officer decided to give them a break and only issued citations to the one angler who was in possession of the largemouth bass. He was charged with possessing game fish during a closed season and received a citation for fishing without a license. He pled no contest to both charges and was adjudicated guilty. He was ordered to pay $287.28 for the largemouth bass and $234.55 for fishing without a license. Both fines remain unpaid and are currently accruing interest. At the time of recording this, he owes the State of Wisconsin $541.63.
