Got the Ozark Trail baitcaster combo and went fishing two days ago. Caught a 2.5 lb bass in a local farm pond. I felt that for the money it was a good combo. It was the first time I had been fishing in about three years, and my nephew and I caught 10 bass in two hours.
I bought this reel last year when it was red and silver other wise exactly the same, mine did the same thing where I had to click the button up myself and then shortly after the gears stripped and it would not reel line in. This was all the second time using it with no catches on it

This gave me my bass fishing fix for the next little while, sadly where I live we have a very limited bass season of only 5 months :/

I have a ozark pole and bait caster and i like mine for my first bait caster so haven’t experienced the higher end but, I have hiccups but mine usually my own fault but it’s not for everyone and I got it bc it was cheap and in my price range at the time

I heard the Lews Xfinity Speedstick Baitcaster is a really good deal. I have the spincaster version and thinking about picking the bait up. I haven't used a baitcaster before so this should be interesting. Anyone have any good opinions on the Xfinity Baitcaster?

You definitely get what you pay for in a bait cast reel. If it normally retails for less than $50, stay away. At $50 – $75, a little better chance you MIGHT get a good one. At $100- $120, decent reel.
Lost my rod and reel yesterday unfortunately i unhook a bass tossed the hook n worm in the water without thinking while I was holding the bass and taking a pic i guess it caught a fish instantly and bloop there goes my rod and reel.. super sad I dove in and tried to find it but its gone gone

I looked at that reel like 3 or 4 days ago and considered it as just a fill in reel and maybe a review video but im glad i didnt since yakpak reviewed the full combo and after a day and a half it started screaming at him when he casted, it sounded like a dc reel with pms. His didnt detonate on him but i already have the lews xfinity so i dont want the ozark trail brand. With ayo reviewing the ozark whopper plopper and saying its crap, i had already bought a few of them so he didnt post the video in time to save me haha my walmart ploppers havent broke yet but i have yet to catch a fish on them. This reel is now a hard pass for me, thanks for the heads up lojo

My advice on a reel save up and buy a good quality reel instead of buying a 30dollar reel every fishing trip it’s well worth buying a good reel you use it so often you don’t want it failing on you during fighting a fish

Had a Lewis reel do that to me where thr button wouldn't click fully down and grinded away the gears which sucks but to have a reel that literally falls apart in your hand that's crazy
