CaptKen’s UltraLight Tackle Topwater Hellgrammite
CaptKen demonstrates his light and ultralight tackle topwater finesse techniques that he uses when conditions may not be ready for making a serious attempt at catching a big bass in his favorite big bass situations. He passes the time trying to catch as many fish as he can using extremely light tackle to catch both the easy numbers of fish, and also, often the bigger bass, especially in areas that are not yet as well known by him. Many times the super finesse techniques result in a big bass even before he makes a move at the right time to the right place with a technique that is deadly on big bass in that environment. He regularly catches many 6-8 lb bass on these light tackle finesse techniques, but he catches the biggest 10 pound plus bass most often on his Designer Bass FROG Lures. On this particular day in early fall that pattern held true. He caught probably 30 small bass with the Hellgrammite, including several bigger specimens of 21 and 22 inches, and then just at the right time moved to the right place to catch a much fatter 23 inch bass in the evening (see the previously published YouTube video— Fall FROG Lure Fishing) on his new TUFF Designer Bass FROG Clone Series FROG with the High Detail hand painted Legs.
