My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/
I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

Use SB coat by LureWorks. Solvent based paint. It is used to airbrush plastisol swimbaits. Nice color selection.
I’m so glad I fish 2 lakes and 1 river and catch fish of a lifetime there all year round and dialed in no need to get to much stuff but in winter cabin fever seems like I get more tackle and ideas to try new stuff
I hate tackle and respooling 😂😂😂
I feel your pain Matt. I personally would toss them and move forward.
There are definitely guys out there that could paint those up any way you like. I wish I was one of them!
I have an idea!
Look up ‘Alumidust’ by Make Lure. Alumidust has a big variety of color powders that you spread on to soft plastic and lock in the color with a heat gun. This might be perfect for fixing the issue and you can customize colors.
Matt, I’ll take them off your hands for 50% discount , they are great for striper and redfish , think of that white head like the red head and white body hard lures , just adds contrast .
Not sure why they don't seal there lead heads before pouring there baits it would solve the problem.
Get yourself some J.J.’s MAGIC, It penetrates the plastic through and through, not just on the outside and use a q tip. You can
blend the colors and get any color you choose to use on the heads!!! Colors will not wear off!!!
looks like baby baluga whales. i would fish it to see if works. because it is different from other lures it may work better.
Spike-It markers to fix that
Have them custom painted
No I don't know my soap classic music leftovers stop the alarm bedroom set overnight
Clip the hook off and make a silicone mold of it….when the head tears out set it in the mold melt the bait down and repour
Walmart has some alcohol based markers that are in a 100 marker kit….they die your bait like spike-it….save the lures
Great video Matt thanks bud and have a Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
I wipe them off and use a magic marker t o color the white. I still catch fish with them
I recomend the jenko booty shaker swimbait 😊
Hello Matt
same same chemical reaction on my Wildeye Storm they became all sticky all sticky covered with a kind of sticky gooey film
friendly
This is the same chemistry that’s going to happen with all those Core tackle rigged plastic baits that lay around in tackle boxes. The Lead will oxidize to Lead oxide, more readily absorbed through the skin and in a dust form that can more easily spread. Throw them away during your municipality’s hazardous waste collection. And stop making Lead fishing tackle … if Lindy can commit to going Lead-Free, so can you. Get crackin’ on it.
😊cleanem up and dip em in chartuse garlic dip. That stuff makes everything work better. Seriously im not sure about the garlic part but the chartuse seems to draw fish better than anything else out there.
Dip it in clear plastisol.
Use a dye on it and dip it in clear plastisol
Looks like you circumcised it
Well.. I've tried painting them with markers but in general.. I have caught them despite the color change..np
I threw mine out. Bottom line is there is way better baits now that I have a bunch of and I wasnt going to fish them anyway.. Its a bummer but not much can change it now.
Dip those heads in red SpikeIt. You know all the old timers used that old red head color on their spooks and wood cranks. That color was dynamite & the red gives a fish the right area to key in on…like the old bleeding bait / red hook deal.
Make a silicone mold of it, coat the lead and repour your own is what I would do. Just my thoughts.
I’d still throw them Matt, as long as the hook isn’t rusted out the bait will catch fish. Get your dye markers and color those heads that have turned white. You can come up with some cool color combinations. Merry Christmas, Mark
I have but have not fished the Working Class Zero 6,7, and 9” soft swimbaits. Made to fit with owner weighted or unweighted beast hooks. Worth a look, I think.
Sign them and give them away. How many do you have? Or, raffle them off, people might want something with your name. I would buy some tickets. For charity
🍺👍🤠….bummer.
I still throw. I’ve used dye markers on some. As far as an equivalent. Optimum Baits Thumper Tail by Butch Brown
Thanks Matt Just clean it and repaint it
If you think it’s shot try using some spray paint on one you might be able to bring it back.
I'd try spike it dye
Maybe you could air brush them to get back the colors you want or to make your own
Can you dye those with a bait marker or paint them with nail polish?
If you have baits that you like and you can't buy anymore you could make a mold and pour your own.
As far as buying big baits like that I suggest checking out the ones made for tarpon and other big saltwater fish.
Hey I'm serious about making those baits with the flashy hairies for you to sell if you're interested. I really want to quit the pest control business and making baits would be a perfect job. I can make the molds and copy those big baits for you too, and add flashy hairy stuff. Maybe we can sell some of my ideas too.
Slick condition surf or pier fishing saltwater I bet they would catch. I realize I’m not talking freshwater, just saying. Not sure how much saltwater you fish or are able too. Here in NC I’m able to fish both pretty frequently.
old bass pro or OB? I have a few old OB line thru's still. Thing called a wormizer would fuze plastics. I use a similar technique to the old wormizer where i take a small torch lighter& heat up an x acto blade theb touch it to slashed/ split soft swimbaits- fixes boom booms good after a pike rocks one.
Matt I guess FFS will answer your question next spring, hold on to them till you see how the fish react to them so just be patient and don't give up on them just yet 👍
Had that same experience with osprey’s. Also had that happen to some Jerry Rago swimbaits
After you repaint them heat up some plastisol and re dip them …let them dry they will be good as new
Try Spike It Worm 'N' Chunk Paint Or just Worm Paint they make all types of colors.
Might try taking some corn starch and work it into the plastic with your fingers. Sounds crazy but it has a chemical reaction to sticky rubber. I’ve done it to sticky rod handles and it works great. They don’t get sticky again after I do it. I clean it with alcohol first and then work in the corn starch. I’m not sure how it’ll work on plastisol. I don’t think you’d need the alcohol clean on swimbaits. I’d like to know if it works if you try it. I’d like to see another video on what you figure out from our comments.
Weird. That just happens on its own?? Other that Zman stuff mixing with other soft plastics I've never had that happen.
