Is the BPS Extreme STK ultralight combo worth your hard-earned money? I’m not sold that it is.
I’ve been fishing with this 5′ ultralight rod and reel for about six months, catching small bass, bluegill, and trout since receiving it from BP. They offer several other lengths (up to 7′) and powers (ultralight, medium, and medium-heavy), but using ultralight gear is one of my favorite ways to catch fish, which is why I chose this combo.

Let’s start with the benefits this combo offers anglers like you and me.

Pros

Reasonably priced
It has nothing to do with the performance, but I like the black and green color combination, so at least it looks cool!
Casts well
Smooth Reeling
Powerful enough to set the hook and fight 1-2-pound bass and trout.
Had it for about 6 months and haven’t broken it yet, despite tossing it in the back of my truck

While this rod’n reel combo is pretty good, it still has a couple of downfalls

Cons

The handle is a little too long for an ultralight setup (I think it would fit the bigger models better), but I also have small hands.

I doubt this will be a rod and reel I pass down to my kids. (It’ll break before the time comes).

Who’s It For?

This ultralight setup is great for anyone who wants to start fishing for panfish or small trout. It’s inexpensive and has held up well despite bouncing around in the back of my truck.

As an ultralight fishing enthusiast, I found it to be a lot of fun to catch fish on and perfect for my kayak fishing trips.

My wife, daughter, and mom all love fishing with it because it’s lighter than my bass fishing spinning rods.

However, it’s not tournament quality, so I wouldn’t recommend this setup if you plan to enter fishing competitions for serious money.
