BIG Swimbait Bass Fishing Challenge | Benjamin Nowak

Figured I’d take to the lake with some BIG swimbaits in search of those bigger than average fish! With water temps falling, I expected those fish to be feeding up before winter, hoping to capitalize on this challenge with one of those GIANT fall bass.

Feel free to share with me your knowledge on swimbait fishing in the comment section below because I need all the tips I can get!

  1. All theses people saying that these aren't big baits, lmao. I live in the Midwest, basically where Jon B. Is if you know him. Hard to find anyone throwing baits over 4" besides jointed rapala originals, haha

  2. WhyΒ were you casting against the wind? You were in a boat, you could have driven the boat in the direction of the wind, would have been far easier for casting.

  3. Just keep chucking and winding, You'll eventually get bit… great video man, it's going to be cool to see You get it all dialed in, and hooked up on them Giants! Hope You have an amazing 2017!!!

  4. Man I was hoping you would catch one on that Optimum 6" swimbait I have had my eye on that one especially since I know about the one they modeled it after. Good luck. Check my channel out if you get a chance.

  5. The colder the water the SLOWER the retrieve. Swimbaits work all year long but cold water bites are rare, one or two bites a day! If your lucky! I live in California and 'lob' them all year long. Keep your rotor cuff out of the cast and use a hip twist lob. That will save you a lot of shoulder wear and tear. And you're absolutely correct we call those 'little' swimbaits. When you get even more serious about swimbaiting get yourself a reel in the 5:1 gear ratio area and a good swimbait rod. Don't get anxious on the ticks wait for the TUG then drive those stout hooks home hard for big swimbaits on the bottom. BIG bass will often try to stun their prey they like to swallow head first whenever possible. 50 percent of the time they will try and knock your bait out with a stunning blow before taking in that meal. You want good strong line that can take a beating and don't let that fish turn you and take you for a ride because there's a lot of bait in their mouth and they can very easily shake you if you haven't driven that hook home hard and kept controlled of their head! Good luck and thanks for sharing the videos. Looking forward to that Big swimbait bass soon.

  6. Aye nice seeing ya go BIG with those swim baits looked like L-13 from the video. Too bad ya didn't get on a bite . water temps really fallen tho you ever try larger jigging raps in deep water for bass before the ice???? We've had good luck with those and giant bass.

  7. It's pretty late for throwing the paddle tails and hard swimbaits. Those are an early fall, pre spawn kinda deal…… now is when you throw a huddleston onto rock piles and points, little bit more subtle action for the cooler water.

  8. Thanks Ben. I wish I would've had a camera man for that hunt. it was epic. We are working on one for Chad now. He crashed out snoring in the hotel room as I type this. lol. Look forward to get back and do some filming and some hunting and fishing.

  9. a few nice new touches on the upload Ben. I liked it. even though the bite wasn't there, it turned out really good. You almost had to get yourself a new camera. yikes! Keep it up.
