This January day I went back to fish Lake Freedom, the private reclaimed gravel pit lake where my buddy (and fellow Strictly Sail & Kayak Fishing Team angler), Michael is a member. I usually catch smaller hybrid bass the few times I’ve fished here, but this day Michael and I both got an 18+ smallmouth bass. I also talk through what I was working on this day, which was my blade bait technique. When I was out fishing with my buddies last month, watching them fish had such an impact on me and I was really happy to get out on the water again and put into practice all the stuff that had been swirling around in my brain since then. Something must have been working because this was one heck of a smallie!
