  1. how do you catch all these big bass at dp? Im so jealous lol I live in Merced and been fishing there a long time but never caught me a 10lb or up. I also use the 8 inch hudd but never have any luck with it.

  2. @pit1982 12" long to keep them , 5 fish limit per person. However they ALL go free in my boat : ) So regulation means nothing to me because I fish for fun. There is PLENTY of dead fish to eat at Long John silvers or at your local store if you want to eat them. Bass are NASTY to eat anyway. We call those who keep to eat "Greasers" LMAO!! Take a pic and set them free. No need to keep the BIG girls.

  3. Unbelievable video, Ive caught some bass just over 5, I'll never see a bass like that in PA.. My brother is moving to NC. Maybe, check my videos out, thanks.

  4. Okuma rods are great for the price. I also use Shimano Cardiff and Calcutta 400 reels. Also the Shimano Curado 300 is a nice all around reel. You have to have enough power to drag that big one in. KEEP REELING.. Don't stop even if it jumps. NEVER let the fish get control, if you can help[ it lol. If you notice the net man is just playing catch most of the time. You drag a 13 lb bass in and it's jumping all the way. Keep reeling. You want the fish on top where you control the fish. Drag um in!

  5. I too would find my self very happy if I caught a 5 lb fish on any given trip. It was not till I fished swimbaits I caught lots of Big fish. I had only 3 over 10 lbs for 20 years. Now up to 23 over 10 in just a few years. I am shocked too. That's not counting others that were boated from people that were with me. It was unreal at times. I use 25 lb line on 8" or bigger baits, 20 lb on baits under 8" Unless Im fishing wood then always 25. I use Okuma Swimbait rods. H and XH , 7'6" and 7'11" ,

  6. I used to shake when i lost one or even got it in the boat lol. I still get fired up when i get a nice one. Last time I shook it was what looked to be a 15+ that got off, I got my butt kicked LOL! They like to use the same areas over and over. Find the areas and angle and presentation or lure. Also the right time of day. It can be tough here in Calif for big ones in summer.
Fall, winter and spring are best for me. Summer time I night fish.

  7. I lost what felt like an 8 or 10 pounder i have never caught one this big but i was close to. the head of the bass was massive it broke the water just once, but when the fish started to swim again, the line broke it felt like the line was rubbing against a rock or something and it had a lot of kinks but any way im planning to go bck and try it again by the way i was using one of those YUM money minnows pearl/black back and 17 lb. smooth cast trilene tried to get fluorocarbonchokecanyon

  8. I don't use hooks on the bottom. It can cause a better chance of bleeding it you use bottom hooks on soft swimbaits. If I am in heavy cover I only use the bait with the jig hook on it already. YOU MUST get lure retrevers ( I have 3 kinds). They save a ton of money. I use 25 lb test copolymer. Lots of ways to fish swimbaits and many kinds of swimbaits out there. Yes they are not cheap. Read up on them. you will find a ton on line on how to. It's not hard, you just gota do it and don't give up.
