You need to at least us a 2 to 3 * circle hook so it sets itself and hook them farther back the more towards the back you go the more the baitfish will swim down

Just use a bigger circle hook and let those fish take those bluegill for a little longer, i do this all the time and catch giant bass but like you i had to just practice, good luck keep fishing.
You have to master the skill,of setting the hook on the fish.If you don't master that skill,all the fish is going to rob ur bait all the time.Good luck out there,man..

Good video. Love seeing florids canals reminds me of home. And I would highly recommend an owner mosquito hook in 2-3/0 for live bluegill. I fish live bluegill alot and best hook I've used by far. Just reel down and sweep the rod with it and they stick
