The mission to catch an invasive Northern Snakehead out of my local lake continues. With nothing but moving baits on hand, I stayed shallow in hope of connecting with a tasty snakehead. The first fish of the day was a chunky yellow perch that slid down my stringer and a few nice bass soon followed. Bass are not in season in Maryland so they couldn’t come home for dinner. Unfortunately, the target species alluded me, but it was still a killer day of spring power fishing that led to a blackened fish sandwich.

Hey Cornell! Missed you out there yesterday! I got out early and was off the water by about 3:00. I had some luck. Nothin with size but they were all in one spot. Covered a bunch of water and then slowed down, picked up a pattern in one spit but couldn’t duplicate it anywhere else. Anyway, looks like you had some fun too! Those pesky bass got to the bait before the snakehead 😜 I haven't fished the lake in a long time. When the snakehead bite is tough in other waters, I slow down. I don't know if they react differently there, but I'll use a swimbait and slow down my presentation. You had some decent action either way.
Have you ever tried putting the fish on ice right away instead of a stringer? I hear different opinions on which way preserves the meat better
