BFS Fishing With A Micro Bladed Jig!

After ultralight fishing all morning with spinning rods, I decided it was time to mix it up, so I picked up my BFS rod and reel. Debo gave Jeff & Paul a fancy Jackall Dera Break micro bladed jig and they were nice enough to pay it forward, so that is what I rigged up. I slapped a Big Bite Baits Kamikaze Swimon 2.5″ on the back and it made for a fun little mini chatterbait setup.

In this video, I used the custom BFS rod which was gifted to me from Chris (subscriber in Chicago-area). I had the Curado BFS reel and some braid on there, and it worked out pretty darn well. While you could absolutely do this same thing on spinning gear, it was really fun to experience it with the BFS equipment.

  1. I lack the bladed jig gene. But it goes back to like 1972 and I sent in my $2.99 to get a selection of lures out of Boy's Life. One was a spinner blade, jig head and maggot body. Zero results. Maybe that initial disappointment caused me to ignore spinner/jig combos since then. But I don't even do much with skirted buzz-baits on bass. As I say, I lack the gene. Spoons, as the Dardevle clone in the assortment, on the other hand . . . Spoons are still my #2 if a Mister Twister jig (bare, slow, and deep) doesn't get a strike.

  2. You are treading outside of true UL fishing that we tune in for. BFS is just ridiculous and is like trying for force a square peg in a round hole. Please don’t turn this great UL Fishing channel into this faddy, trendy garbage…Shaking my head…..

  3. From an engineering standpoint I can totally understand why you wouldn't want your line in contact with the blank. That line is going to tend to be in contact with the same area every time there is load on the rod. If that line is always rubbing the same areas there is no chance that it won't eventually wear and weaken the rod.
