Hey Folks!
–
On this weeks episode we are back to some up close and personal rigging methods! This week, we simplify things back to a cheap, conventional lure that EVERYONE knows and loves. The paddle tail swimbait. While these lures come in an extreme variety of colors and sizes, the rigging methods can be limitless as well.
–
In this video we talk about my 3 favorite ways to fish this lure. If you are NOT just using it as a trailer for a spinnerbait/chatterbait or swim jig, these methods can ELEVATE your game.
–
1- Spring lock weighted hook. For most sizes I use anywhere from a 3/0 to a 10/0. You can even elevate this even more by using a blade attached to the belly of the hook for some extra flash.
–
2- The “texas rig” paddle tail. For this I start with a bullet weight (more weight for deeper water, less weight for slower fall and shallower retrieve) then I use an EWG hook, rig the paddle tail how you would any other texas rig style bait, and BOOM! That simple. Great for hopping around like a more finesse style jig presentation, or slow swim it, and give that paddle tail some extra body roll compared to the belly weighted hook.
–
3- Through line treble hook. Now, this method is a bit more advanced but still can be used by ANYONE with access to a treble hook. Make sure you pair the correct size with the size of the paddle tail you are throwing. Find a coffee straw (thin) or the inside of a pen, and poke it through the nose and out the back of the swimbait. Tie on your treble hook to your line and catch some fish!
