Bass tournament fishing season is finally here! Here I go out pre-fishing for my first derby of the year. I challenge myself to catch the best 5 bass bag I can in preparation. I’m also exploring new areas, trying to locate where the bass are feeding, and what baits they are willing to eat. I would consider it a successful practice day and I am hopeful I can do well on tournament day. The water was off colored and cold ranging from 48-52 degrees. The wind was blowing from the west at 15mph, and the air temperature was in the mid 40’s. Staying persistent proved to be key. Bass were willing to eat a chatter bait, a flat sided crankbait, and a brush hog. Typical early spring fishing. I will be filming the tournament so with any luck the first bass fishing tournament video of the year will be posting shortly.
