Milliken seems way too full of himself. Would love some of the elites to shut him up and humble him some. Ben Milliken has a very long way to go to ever be what Randy Blaukat was in his prime. Blaukat in his prime would have fished circles around Milliken. All day. Not even close. Blaukat in his prime was hands down better than Milliken, and far better at catching fish using his instincts too.

Ben has some great points on the large holding companies taking over all of the fishing companies. I like both anglers but also agree with Randy on FFS in tournaments . At 65 yr old Im done with tournament fishing and enjoyed it back in my day. I think we all can disagree but need to also be respectful to one another. I think we as anglers more importantly need to address the fish kills that are occuring after these large tournaments. I live on Lanier and invite anyone to visit Laurel Park few days after a large tournament and witness the volume of dead fish. Trust me more than you know are dying never to be caught again. No matter our differences we need to protect our fisheries so there is a future for everyone to enjoy be it tournaments or just recreational angling.
Tournment fishermen represent only about 5% of anglers in our sport, but we cannot continue to lose quality fish at this rate for Lanier to remain a gem for spotted bass fishing.
I like both those guys. Ben got a lot of push with his channel with help from Flair and MTB then seemed like he stepped on their faces to get ahead.

JFC….. I wish Randy would find a new thing to complain about. I'm 64, seen better days doing a lot of things, but his stance on FFS is so far from reality I'm going to unsubscribe just to get away from it.
I used to enjoy watching bass tournaments on tv but now with this new technology it is unwatchable, smallmouth tournaments shouldn't even be on the air. Now if I still fished tournaments I would have to use this technology or I wouldn't have a chance. I do believe if they ban this technology most of these guys would be lost.
Try to laugh at some things RAANNDDYY. You don't have to get butt-hurt over everything. Do your own thing and don't worry about who said what, you know, " A mouth say anything ". Don't worry about he pointed a finger at me or he has FFS. Get out on the water and do your own thing.

So, I think many people miss the point Ben Milliken is trying to make. Whether you like FFS or not, everything being discussed is just noise. Lower payouts in the sport is the result of Private Equity buying out tackle companies and manufacturers which make fishing tackle and getting as much money as possible. Ok, that is the American way, but in past, you had individual companies and manufacturers who cared about sport and wanted the sport to thrive. When you get Private Equity also known a big conglomerate, who owns these companies, they don't care about sport. They will squeeze as much money as they can out of the companies and let the companies go bankrupt. Do the research. Google search who owns some of the popular brands, then look up what the Private Equity owns. Private Equity bought some major fishing companies and they own many other companies which has nothing to do with fishing. So greed is killing the sport.

The funny thing is Randy is subsribed to Milliken and watched his whole video. Randy made his video right after Milliken did. Everyone complains yet still are involved.
Let's add something else that changed the fishing industry. It's called the Internet. Before the Internet companies in the fishing industry advertised in Bassmaster magazine and on the professional anglers Jersey and boat. Take Greene Boat and Motor. Back in the late 90's they sold 5 boats a day. They also sold bass boats to anglers in Japan. As the Internet rolled out boat dealers got territories. In other words Greene's couldn't sale a boat three or four states away any more. All the Japanese sales went down the tubes. Greene's had to close their doors. They did reopen in 2008. They changed their name to Anglers Choice. This is the same time period Randy talks about. I do agree that late 90's to early 20's was good for making money and sponsors. I know I fished the FLW during this time. Once the Internet took off advertising changed. I was left holding the bag of empty dreams. This had nothing to do with LiveScope or the rich man. Companies are in business to make profits. I was not good enough as a fisherman for companies to say, this guys going to make us money. As a real man admitting I was not good enough hurts the ego. Randy has not come to the place of letting the ego go. However Ben is correct on how it works now. Good topic. Brings back good memories of a time go by.
I love Ben and the points he made are probably very true. But he could of made all those points with naming names and it would have been way more professional. He sounds like he's Bitching and moning just as much as Randy sorry to say.
Randy told me I was a conspiracy theorist when I pointed out that the entire environmental movement was political and not really about the environment. I need to find a safe space. My feewings are hurted. 😥
