I desperately needed to get away and do something different on this day. I was going to the mountains, but snow and cold prevented that. Booked an offshore/Catalina Island trip, but that was canceled due to low reservation count. So, I took some frozen smelt to the very end of a jetty in Long Beach, CA. Super slow with very little water movement, so conditions were not ideal. But, all was not lost.

I miss Long Beach, grew up there.
Nice, short, and fun video. I always target halis with live/dead smelt but they are often times hard to come by. I live in SoCal too… do you have a particular location/strategy when you catch these smelt?
That's the joys of bait fishing, lot of waiting, rather relaxing but can be a whole lot of nothing at times. Tight lines to ya mate!
