  1. Get to fish against him out at our local TTZ Tuesday nighters on Lake Travis here in Texas and he IS an awesome man. Look forward to having him whip up on us more now that he has more time to be home….. God bless and enjoy this new chapter!

  2. I for one had the chance to meet him in Eufaula, Alabama when he was part of the FLW talked with him only for a few minutes but felt that he was so genuine. Will miss seeing him on tv. I wish him well on his future endeavors and to enjoy those grand babies.

  3. Pretty soon all the greatest will be retired from the best Era in bass fishing the young guns are good but definitely have big shoes to fill. Happy times in your retirement enjoyed watching you fish.

  4. Think this is the beginning of the end. Bass dont give 2 s#### about the old school anglers. Actions speak loader than words BASS talks alot with some of the worst actions. They need to clean house over there and start with a whole set of people running it. I don't care if I ever watch it again. So fed up with that organization.

  5. I fished only one Red Man tournament back in the ‘80’s as a co-angler. The boaters boat broke down on the take off to start the tournament. We didn’t place but Clark Wendlant won the tournament that day.

  6. He's a great dude. Met him many times. This new format does not fit his fishing style. We'll find him fishing somewhere… and we'll be routing for him. Might want to keep this show structure fresh.. I believe there will be 10/12 other anglers behind him.

  7. WOW! Super great guy! I wonder if the timing was accelerated as a result of FFS and his email. Of course Clark isn't the youngest guy on the tour and I am sure maybe getting out of the rat race of bass fishing national tournaments and spending more time with his family played a big part. I don't think I ever heard anyone say anything negative about Clark until his email, and then most of those comments seemed uninformed.

  8. Clark was always an amazing ambassador to the sport. I don’t recall a time where he was involved any type of controversy or negative issue with other anglers. His retirement really doesn’t come as a surprise. As you mentioned before Steve, the email was very clear black-and-white. he was not a fan of forward facing sonar, nor was he a fan of where the elite league is headed.
Though he will be missed, I’m sure there will be others that follow suit. The new direction that the elites are currently on, is not favored by many of the traditionallist anglers.
I wish Clark well and hope he enjoys his retirement
