The wacky rig is an excellent tool for all levels of anglers. The simplicity of this rig makes it especially good for beginners. The wacky rig catches fish when other lures won’t. I turned a quick evening fishing trip into a success with the wacky rig. I used the Reaction Innovations 4.5″ pocket rocket and a 1/0 neko hook. I only needed this one combo to have fun. I used to trout fish a lot with my dad and he also said to wet your hand before you touch fish scales cuz they have a slime that protects them from infections. I also wonder if it’s really important to get the fish back in the water if they’re on beds.

Always have wacky ready to go when they miss topwater , swim jig so on. Caught dozens of fish this way and several over 5 lbs. But it is great for beginners because you cant really fish it wrong
