Disadvantages??…. If you’re not good at tying knots …. It’s going to break. So if you want to make the switch…… learning curve , so you are going to break off alot!!!! Right?
Or when doing a carolina rig and you want to eliminate the knot issue, throw the weight direct on the braid, then a bead, then swivel then use your fluorocarbon or mono leader of your length and weight then to hook size and hook of your choice. choice.
How long of a leader ?
I tried braid with no leader caught some but lost some big bass over 10 lbs could be the just got off maybe try it again see if it will get those big ones. Good video though.

What's the benefit of a fluoro leader? Why not straight braid?

Whoever invented braid was a genius and a fishing hero. Just switched and my jaw dropped due to the increase in performance. Im dumbfounded. From now on I will always use braid as a main line.
Your knot got beat up on that c rig because that heavy ass weight kept going over it. Should've just had the swivel keeping the two lines separate
Dear Mr Fluke, fishermen talk about using 6lb, 8lb mono or flour on spinning gear, But No One ever mentions using 6-8lb braided line. When braided line is mentioned in videos It's Always 10 lb and Up. Why for is this Mr Fluke?
Make your rig invisible, not line. The fish is too dumb to worry about line, it's all in the bait. Just use a very strong braid of any color you like.

I've seen the short leaders with the ends on them. These reels of leaders is new to me. What is the advantage to having 10' of leader over the pre-made 12"?

I've heard that the fg is most effective when the test on the leader is heavier than the spool
Been fishing for 20+ years using 25lb braid line to a steel wire leader so muskie don't shred my line of they get a mouth full on my bait. Never had problems with fish seeing my line. As far as I've seen, most fish don't really care. And I like the fact that if i snag something I can just wrench it out of the water. But to each their own.
Probably going to keep the trout setups mono but considering switching the walleye and bass setups to braid/fluro.
Thank you Soo much for the kayak tip, been using braid to flouro setup on my kayak and could figure out why I was having such a hard time setting my hooks! Took your advice and switched to all braid on the kayak and it has greatly increased my hookset percentage.
Thank you for this video man, I've commented in other vids you have about how you are really helping me. I got a nice new baitcaster and have used straight 30lb black fireline braid for everything.. im got some 17lb fluorocarbon im going to try to rig a leader to but if no luck ill go on and buy some lighter braid and fluoro
I've moved to all braid too, love it. What braid lbs would you recommend for a med deep cranking/chatter bait set up?

question for all. I have been casting with fluorocarbon on to crank and jerk bait. No matter what knit I yours the lure come straight to the surface when cranking. It's the line twisted or what? that is my last conclusion

Tell me more about this FG knot you speak! I'm an old school monofilament fisherman that, like you, was totally turned off of braid using Spiderwire when it fist came out. I lost so many fish and lures because I couldn't master a decent knot with the stuff and said the hell with it, never picked it up again until now. Just purchased a premium casting rod real combination and want to create a positive, new experience with this new setup.
