Bass Fishing Rust De Winter | Pre Fishing For Last Opens Competition

In this episode of my Road To The Green Jacket I head out for a day at Rust De winter dam to try catch some bass for our up and coming competition at Rust De Winter Dam.

I join Marnus on this day of bass fishing out at Rust De Winter since I have no boat to fish from. This day is dedicated to fishing areas, fishing different rig, fishing different baits and trying to identify a pattern for our up and coming opens.

This means fishing area with different lures to find bass and to see if they want to eat lures in the area that we have found bass. Moving around on the day is also key to actually identify where the bass are going to be a week later. Going through different lure patterns is important to identify which baits and presentation will get the bigger bass to bite on competition day out at Rust De Winter.

Rust De Winter Dam is known for it’s heavy vegetation. This usually forces bass anglers to fish the cover with weightless presentation, top waters and texas rigs. These presentations are super effective to the baits being weedless and as we all know the bass hide in that vegetation.

Moving around rust de winter to try and find where the bass are located is very important. This will help you identify what pattern you want to go with on competition day and it also helps you to have spots ready for competition day.

All in all the day was relatively successful. we had figures out that the bass where biting texas rig craws and weightless presentations like stick baits. We also found out that the bass at rust de winter where around cover that was near deeper water. This shows that the bass where ready to move deeper for that winter months to come.
